Oh, emotional shopping, we used to have so much fun together but now you're no longer fun to be around...

Seriously, though, I'm not overspending / overshopping horrendously but I have been buying more than I need these past few months.  I'm self-aware enough to realize exactly why I'm doing it and why it's okay for the most part but also that, hey, it's probably time to slow down.  After all, savings should be used to cover that cute little new jacket but, mostly, they should be for the new apartment next year, you know?

That being said, the fact that Fashion Bug is going out of business but still getting new stock in every week through sometime in January is dangerous.  Right now the discounts aren't great (30 - 40% off) but they'll start dropping quickly once mid-November and early December get here.  But I'm experiencing what I went through with Borders - I spent so much money, even when the discounts weren't at their best because with a going out of business sale, that book / shirt you really like now probably won't be around next week.

The up-swing is that my wardrobe is filling out.  Yesterday's purchases netted me two fall jackets, two tops, two winter-ish skirts and a necklace and they were all 30% off (except the necklace, which was 50% off); also, bought a pair of ankle boots at Macy's earlier that day.  Expensive place but I had no boots - they've all disintegrated over the years.

(Also, an aside: the amount of skirts and dresses that I have purchased in the last year and have actively worn is probably more than the last two or three years combined. :O )

But the purchasing of Kindle books has shot up and it's all a bunch of little things and I just really need to be careful.  Crunch down on the budget and actually stick to it - emotional shopping makes sense (something I can control, etc) but I don't want to get stupid about it.  I don't want it to get to be something that I can't control.

(Secret fear = ending up on the Horders show.)

Don't feel too bad; shopping is a great distraction from stress (so long as you don't go overboard). Plus, it sounds like it's all stuff you needed to replace those enormous sweater tents of yours... (I love you, I love you! Just not your sweater tents.)

Plus, you could have been the one to buy $45 moisturizer... just saying.

I think I'm right on the edge of the going overboard (or at least it feels that way), so I'm going to back off a little bit, I think. Maybe factor in $10 - $20 a paycheck for Kindle books (it's like popcorn, *sigh*) and factor in stuff for clothes so that when I hit a certain point, I know to stop.

Ahah! Oh, those sweaters - warm, they were warm! But, I've also discovered belts and I've got three now (2 black and a red), so the baggier stuff is actually looking better - and I'm not buying as much. ;)

Honestly, though, you're in a country where getting the stuff that you know works for you is expensive - you've got very little options in the way of getting a better deal. And if you're like me, switching to a new one tends to be a matter of trying to break it in or else I'll break out; it's why I stay with the same brands.

Yeah, I totally get it - I'm feeling exactly that way myself (although I live on $175 a week including rent, so it's pretty easy to feel that way tbh, ugh, I hate being poor). Definitely budget out the Kindle books - I've had the same thing going on with Kobo books this week, and they definitely eat up a significant amount of money if you're not careful.

Belts!!! I love a good belt. I'm so proud of you (in a totally tongue-in-cheek, not-condescending way!). I love the look of looser clothing for fall anyway - just, don't buy stuff you could fit another two or three people in, okay? <3

That's the thing - and it's the desert, so when your skin is dry, it's DRY. My hands are literally cracking and it's super painful. So. Super-expensive lotion, and probably, when I run out of my current stuff, super-expensive shampoo and conditioner. But I'm staying within my budget, so... that's good, right? D:

OMG, Kindle / iTunes stuff piles up so fast! $1.99 looks great until you realize how much you're multiplying that by ... But I think building in an actual budget for it will help; right now, I give myself entertainment budget and a misc. fund budget of a certain amount but they're pretty fluid.

Fiscal responsibility sucks.

*snickers* I'm trying, I promise. I judge these days by trying it on and going "WWLS" (What Would Lauren Say) and it's worked remarkably well. :D

Staying within your budget is a good thing! It might have been expensive but you needed it and, ultimately, it didn't break the bank. And, just think, in March/April, you can buy all the $25 versions you want!
