Bad:  I am surrounded by empty boxes.

Good:  I am surrounded by EMPTY boxes.  Which means I'm pretty much done - if you ignore all the crap strewn around the bedroom.  But it's not in the box!  Ahahah!

Okay, I lied, there are two boxes that aren't empty.  One has some random cruft in it and the other box is purring, so.

*gasp*

Heather arrived and we took a box and a little nightstand over so I could show her the place.

Not only do they have a dry cleaner in the building (wait, is that both Lauren's I hear cheering at the idea that I will no longer be walking on miles of my pants?), but they have this awesome little store and *flails*.  There's so much in there!  Food, shampoo, things!  Lots of things!

Also!  I can buy BEER and WINE from them!  14 floors below me and there's drinks!  EEEEE.

(Alsoalso, the night view?  Just gorgeous.  So gorgeous.)

Nothing is quite done, there's still so much to do.

But.

I have the keys to my new apartment.  I have the keys to a gorgeous, spacey apartment that actually has the cute little shelving unit in my closet.  Tomorrow night I sleep in my new apartment and I get to look out on the river when I look out my window and oh my god, I just want everything to be done.  I'm going to miss my roommates so much but I'm incredibly excited about my new place.

Squee.  Shelving!

:P

The man from the gas company was a bit of a dick - didn't say much, just stomped downstairs without waiting for me, threw his tools around in the basement and, again without waiting for me, stomped back upstairs, out the door and slammed the door shut behind him.

...that was rude and a bit bizarre.  *blinks*

Ngggh.

The more we do, the less we've seem to have accomplished.  Aah, moving, so much hate.

Going to bed now, will do more tomorrow.  I've got the walk through in the apartment tomorrow at noon, too.  Must remember to bring camera for the inspection.  For those that have done these (other people always got to them first), I know the main things to look out for but any suggestions on other things to look out for in the first inspection?

Hmm

I meant to be more productive today - my plan had been to sit down at 12:30, watch a bit of TV and eat my lunch before going to do productive things.  The next thing I now, my roommate and I are watching 'The Mummy Returns' and gently heckling it.  (Come on, the part where Rick has stabbed the Scorpion King and Imhotep runs forward to land on one knee, arms spread, yelling 'Noooo' was the best thing EVER.)

Laundry is being done, modly things are being done.  Packing is pretty much done except for the TBR books and things that have to wait until the last week.  Like kitchen things.

Tonight I'm sending out the last group log for my plot.  Busy but not so busy that I can't take a break and continue to read Cemetery Dance by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child.

You just netted me $100. :D

I had to go out to get a newspaper to wrap breakables in it and on my way to CVS I spotted 7-11 and went 'Ooh, closer!' and turned in.  I just happened to decide to get a scratch off ticket - you have two numbers and 21 chances of finding those numbers.  You find one, or both, numbers, you win the cash prize underneath.

I found a 4, $50.  I got excited.

I found a 9, another $50.  I squealed and flailed.

$100 that I didn't have before suddenly made things a lot less tight this paycheck, as I'm trying to keep $150 to put in savings (on top of the regular amount of savings I put away).  If I had spent my normal grocery money ($50 a week), I would have been just at that, meaning, well, a lot of staring at my account and hoping I had remembered everything and that no unexpected bills pop up.  But with this ... geez, I can put it away, cut a little into my grocery money and not only have room to breath but also have the ability to go out once or twice to a movie or for something to eat.

I really, really needed this kind of break and the universe was kind enough to finally deliver a hand up instead of a kick in the teeth.  ^.^

~~

Going to be spending most of the day schleping boxes from the basement to my staging area.  Have decided to not get a moving crew and hopefully Heather and I can muscle our way through my crap.  The savings of $150 is strong.

I'll probably get the 14 foot truck from UPS and two wheel dollie things plus a furniture moving one.

I need to put stuff on Craigslist and/or put it out on the curb for free.  And take things to goodwill.

So much stuff to do, so little time (okay, quite a bit of time but still).
