Third day at the gym and it was the kwando class.  And true to his word, a grinning George was watching towards the end. :P  Kwando ... it's different.  Jennifer who runs the class likes that I have TKD training but told me that the best thing to do is to keep the idea of the body from TKD but to let go of the forms.  The kicks are different, they throw punches that would make Khan wince - but it's not about form.  They aren't teaching us to defend ourselves, it's a cardio class.

It's a cardio class that kicked my butt.

I'm going to stick with it and see what comes of it.  I need a better bra, though. *cuddles chest*  Sweet Jesus, that hurt.

I also like that since it was at 9:30, I've got my entire day in front of me.  I need to eat, shower and do some cleaning; errands need to be run.  After that, though, I think it's me time.  Todd's floating around here but the other two roommates are gone so I'll put on a movie or something once I'm done cleaning and errands are done.

3 days so far, I'm hurting but I feel good about myself. Let's see if I can stick it through.  Taking the next two days off and I've got my official personal training session on Tuesday night at 7.

Good for you! And yeah, it's hard to remember that cardio is just cardio - I took a kickboxing class where the guy really cared about form, and then one where it really didn't matter. :) Stick with it - and if you're looking for a bra, I've always loved Lululemon, as they have full-support ones that work really well (there's one in Bethesda).

And the elliptical trainer you were on yesterday - that's one of my favourites. I need to work out more.

It was really hard trying to get my body to do some of the moves because my mind was flailing and going "That's not how you do a side kick! Where's the pivot! Oh god, my hip joint!". *grins* But she was pretty good - she found me a kwando buddy who was awesome (who's personal trainer is George and who's lost 20 lbs in the last year thanks to him and the gym) and hopped down from her platform to help me when I needed it.

I really like that one, too. No pressure on the joints but it was still one hell of a work out.

I'm glad you liked it - if you have not, take a hot shower. You're going to HAAATTEEE yourself tomorrow if you don't. Also lots and lots of water, Miss Missy.

Re: kicks - think of it as different kicks, same names. It'll help you separate what you learned at Khan's from the cardio stuff.

I just got out of the shower now. The only part of me that's screaming is my left shoulder and elbow - I think I overextended it yesterday and today. And yeah, I had a glass of water and then a glass of juice - I don't have much for a quick lunch so I'm hitting the grocery store for filling but healthy.

Yeeeaaah, I'm thinking I have to do that as well. And forget the placing the feet (they do back leg front kick without putting the foot down and sliding it back; things like that throw me off) - I'll just follow Mara for the next couple of classes. :D

We do that in my TKD class here actually, there's some good reasons for it.

Are you allowed to bring water bottles to class?

It'll just get take some time getting used to it. Also, there are punches that you throw like a knife hand but you're punching. Those weird me out.

And yes. The class is set up in this circle thing with a low wall ringing around it - you can put your clothes/water bottle on that. And she's more than happy to have someone pop off to the side to take a drink.

Yeeesss? I think - I'm not sure what she called them. It was like a swinging around punch.

Yeah, that sounds like a hook punch.

*nods* Sounds like it. If the elbow's bent, it's a hook punch. If it's not so much, it's a haymaker. ;)
