There's a lot I could talk about (and probably should, too) but right now I'm busying myself for the first, but hopefully not the last, MD/VA Roommate Reunion tomorrow.  (It makes for a good number of people without it being too much - considering that this is the first time we've had more than 2 people over since the funeral, I didn't want anything huge both for my parents sake and also, well, mine.  Handling groups has gotten a little harder these past few weeks.)

One of the things that has slipped has been cooking - basically, it's been like a lot of my hobbies.  Too much effort.  So I haven't cooked a lot, maybe once every week or so, which is not me.  So I'm looking forward to having people over and feeding them - I always feel better when I feed people.  I'm looking at:

- Mini Shrimp Rolls
- Potato Cakes with Chunky Vegetable stew (for the vegan and kosher folks)
- Harvest Corn Chowder (the only person outside the family who's had it was Lauren that one Thanksgiving so I'm a bit nervous as this is my favorite thing to make)
- Gingerbread cake with a lemon sauce
- Pears poached in earl grey tea (vegan again!)

I'm focusing on cooking and entertaining instead of squishy emotions - I'm still trying to grapple with so many things, I'm so overwhelmed, that I just hermit and try to box everything up without dealing with them.  Which, you know, has worked great so far. -.-

But, until then, I've just pulled the gingerbread cake out of the oven and the pears have been poached; I'm about to start working on the shrimp rolls and then the chowder, which'll leave me just having to make the veg stew and potato cakes tomorrow.
