Dragon Age II fic bit

Bit of conversation from a DAII that I'm writing between Hawke and Aveline, where Aveline gets to expound on why she doesn't like certain characters but, also, still manages to insult Isabela. ;)

"What?"  Aveline scoffed.  "I like plenty of people, thank you very much."

"Really?"  Hawke peered around her wine glass with a frown.  "Isabella.  Anders.  Merrill.  You can't say you've exactly embraced some of our comrades with open arms, Guard Captain."

Aveline braced her forearms on the kitchen table as she moved to respond.  "Personal opinions of certain activities aside, you've only yourself to blame for my dislike, Hawke.  I have no question these days where Varric, Fenris or Sebastian's loyalties lie.  They would each lay down their lives for you should you ask them to; they have your back, that I have no question of."

Grabbing her wine bottle back, she poured herself another glass.  "Isabela is hiding something and that something will come back to bite you on the arse.  Anders can barely separate reality from insanity these days and, mark my words, he'll stab you in the back the moment he thinks it'll further his cause."  Aveline hesitated.  "Merrill.  I don't dislike the poor girl, it's hard to not like her, but I don't trust her, either.  Merrill thinks she controls the blood magic but you and I both know that, one day, she won't be in the control anymore.  And who'll be holding the other end of the sword when that day comes, hmm?"

"In other words, you don't like them because you think they put me in danger?"

Aveline shrugged.  "We came out of Ferelden together, Hawke.  I'd be dead with Wesley if it weren't for you and that's a type of friendship I take seriously.  You've proven yourself against outside forces and I won't see you fall under a blow from someone you trusted."

As the silence started to descend between the two of them, Aveline finished with, "But for the record, I really do think Isabela's a bitchy, disease ridden pirate."

Thank you! I've been replaying DAII and it made me want to finish up an Aveline and Hawke fic. It's just a matter of actually finishing it ...

Aw, thanks! I need to finish up that ME fic, actually, now that I think about it.

I did after I saw this comic. End of 2013, if there's no delays; why so loooong? 2013's going to be fun - Bioshock 3 comes out at the start of it.

Ooh. I didn't know they were making another Bioshock. Will have to look for it.

Consolation wise for the long wait is hopefully we'll get a really great game out of it. I think one of the reasons DA2 had so many samey-samey level designs was the lack of time they got between DA1 and DA2.

And since it was one of the major complaints of the game, I would guess they've built in a time window that'll let them program in more unique designs.

Still, I am really hoping they give us regular updates on progress and story and such to tide us over.
