Is Batman: Arkham City worth picking up?  Apparently Best Buy is having a sale and I can get it for $19.99 + S&H.  The price is very tempting but I don't know much about the game except I did enjoy the first one.

I only got to play it for a little bit (And boy do I wish I had the money to pick it up now!) and it was amazing, so for that price I do think it's well worth it.

Batman Lego 2 is out this month, so I think I'll apply the $20ish there. I mean, Lego!

All I've heard about it is that it's craaaazy misogynistic.

*makes a face* I had been on the fence anyway (because while I liked the first one, it's one of the ones that I never wound up finishing, bad gamer), so, yeah, time to save my money. There are a ton of games out now that I want to pick up (Lego!).

Ugh, Bioshock, why you pushed back to 2013? *sad grabby hands*

Do you like adventure games? There are a lot on steam at manageable file sizes (not gigs and gigs).

List of games that I've played lately (using my Steam library, since that's all I buy from lately it seems! XD):

Bastion (lovely story, excellent use of narration, get the version with the soundtrack oh god)
Broken Sword trilogy (traditional adventure games)
Chime (music and tetris like!)
Costume Quest (fantastic, if you like the play style!)
Dear Esther (2 hours of gameplay, so short, but atmospheric and absolutely gorgeous experience - more an experimental type game)
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (if you like ME, you should like this one if you haven't played it yet - you can get it in stores easy)
DX: HR DLC - The Missing Link (totally worth getting as well)
Jade Empire: Special Edition (probably only can be found on Steam. An older BioWare games but it survived time well. Pretend they didn't invent a language when they could have used existing ones. -_-)
Legend of Grimrock (lovely, lovely callback to old style dungeon crawls!)
Orcs Must Die! (Highly entertaining Tower Defense type game! Kill all the orcs as creatively as possible! :D)
Portal 1 & 2 (Cannot recommend then enough. Great female characters. Can be bought in store still.)
Puzzle Agent 1 & 2 (Adventure games)
Torchlight 1 (2 is coming out soon - Diablo like, but more fun imho)

I have more on my "to play" list, but those I haven't touched at all I won't recommend yet, in case they suck. XD

Actually - check this out too.

http://homehorror.com/

It's 2$ and a 87.5MB download. A lot of the smaller indie games are very reasonable in file size and a LOT of fun to play. :D

And this!

A bit more pricey, but this is on my "must play SOON" list. I have heard only good and amazing things about this one!

Oohh. If these can be put on the computer, then I'm set - we'll go to the library to do downloadable stuff. It's most the XBox that's so hard to update.

Thanks for the list - I'm really going to have to check out Torchlight 1. I love, love Diablo but can't get the new one because you need to be online (*sigh*).

Thirding the "It's really misogynistic." comments.

Blargh. That really makes me pause - I think I'm going to save the $20ish dollars and apply it to Batman Lego 2. (Which I'll actually finish, as oppose to this, let's be fair.)

I get the misogynistic bit, though all the instances I can remember from the game are from coming from the mouths criminal thugs, so it's one of those "consider the source" deals. Your mileage may vary. (Edit: A couple hours after I wrote this, I realized upon further reflection that what I wrote is pretty damn irrelevant to the general charge of misogyny, especially due to costume choices for female characters, and Catwoman's combat move set. I don't want to make any attempt hide what I wrote by deleting it, but I apologize for my asinine defensiveness of the game on this subject. I stand by the rest of what follows.)

I enjoyed the game and the story pretty thoroughly. It improves on Batman: Arkham Asylum in pretty much every way, in my opinion.

One caveat about the sale: that sounds like it's probably the sale price for the original game, and not "Game of the Year edition" which includes all the downloadable content like extra costumes, characters (Tim Drake Robin, Nightwing), and the new Harlequin's Revenge content, where you get some epilogue storyline content to play as Robin. Keep an eye out for that.

To be honest, I'm living in a place where the internet is so sucky I can only download things between 2 am and 7 am, so, sadly, downloadable content is something that I'm not factoring into. Well. Anything until January / February 2013. ;)

I was already kind of torn but, yeah, I think I'll save my money. God knows I've got enough games to pick from now that I'm getting the Mass Effect series slowly out of my system.

Sadly, I'll have to wait until either I have a bad insomnia night or when I move to download them because of the internet thing. We're on a limited internet thing - 500 MB of downloads allowed per day and surfing the net eats up some of it. -.- Suuuuuck.

I want them so badly. XD
