Batman: Arkham City Question
Jun. 13th, 2012 10:02 amIs Batman: Arkham City worth picking up? Apparently Best Buy is having a sale and I can get it for $19.99 + S&H. The price is very tempting but I don't know much about the game except I did enjoy the first one.

Date: 2012-06-15 03:56 am (UTC)List of games that I've played lately (using my Steam library, since that's all I buy from lately it seems! XD):
Bastion (lovely story, excellent use of narration, get the version with the soundtrack oh god)
Broken Sword trilogy (traditional adventure games)
Chime (music and tetris like!)
Costume Quest (fantastic, if you like the play style!)
Dear Esther (2 hours of gameplay, so short, but atmospheric and absolutely gorgeous experience - more an experimental type game)
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (if you like ME, you should like this one if you haven't played it yet - you can get it in stores easy)
DX: HR DLC - The Missing Link (totally worth getting as well)
Jade Empire: Special Edition (probably only can be found on Steam. An older BioWare games but it survived time well. Pretend they didn't invent a language when they could have used existing ones. -_-)
Legend of Grimrock (lovely, lovely callback to old style dungeon crawls!)
Orcs Must Die! (Highly entertaining Tower Defense type game! Kill all the orcs as creatively as possible! :D)
Portal 1 & 2 (Cannot recommend then enough. Great female characters. Can be bought in store still.)
Puzzle Agent 1 & 2 (Adventure games)
Torchlight 1 (2 is coming out soon - Diablo like, but more fun imho)
I have more on my "to play" list, but those I haven't touched at all I won't recommend yet, in case they suck. XD

It's 2$ and a 87.5MB download. A lot of the smaller indie games are very reasonable in file size and a LOT of fun to play. :D
And this!

A bit more pricey, but this is on my "must play SOON" list. I have heard only good and amazing things about this one!

Date: 2012-06-15 11:19 am (UTC)Thanks for the list - I'm really going to have to check out Torchlight 1. I love, love Diablo but can't get the new one because you need to be online (*sigh*).

Date: 2012-06-14 01:07 am (UTC)I enjoyed the game and the story pretty thoroughly. It improves on Batman: Arkham Asylum in pretty much every way, in my opinion.
One caveat about the sale: that sounds like it's probably the sale price for the original game, and not "Game of the Year edition" which includes all the downloadable content like extra costumes, characters (Tim Drake Robin, Nightwing), and the new Harlequin's Revenge content, where you get some epilogue storyline content to play as Robin. Keep an eye out for that.
