I have a lot of stuff to process from over the last week and since I really can't think over everything, I'm going to do it in small chunks.  So, the happy stuff first.

New Laptop

So, thanks to everyone who commented about the laptop search on my journal and in e-mail.  I wasn't really able to comment back (ugh, I'm trying to get better about that) but it helped a lot.  I took Consumer Reports and my parents with me to Best Buy last Saturday to pour over their options and I ended up coming home with a brand new bundle of joy.  ^.^

The new, as yet unnamed (Besides "Jesus Christ, this is heavier than I expected", which is a horrible name), laptop is a Dell 17.3 inch Inspiron and, so far, I love it.  The screen is amazing, I love the keyboard and with 8GB (it was the only one with 8GB instead of 6 at the store), I have an amazing amount of memory.

With the 'net being irksome at home, I brought it to work on Monday to install things like Firefox and Diablo II (I love having my paid for versions on Battle.net), so I could have things to do.  And I look forward to buying honest to god computer games that I can play on my wonderful new laptop.

Also, I apparently can switch out tops for it which one, that's more money to spend but, two, ooohhh, pretty options!

Vancouver

I have my flights booked for the conference!  Yay!  I have a 6:15 am flight to Vancouver!  BOO.  Oh well.  I might get work to swing for a cheap hotel the night before but, if not, I can get a room near by at $70.  Not bad.

Also, thanks to the fact that I paid a lot less for the laptop than I had budgeted for, I've been able to save a good chunk of money for the personal portion of that trip.  Essentially, I have my hotel money + $400 leftover and I'll certainly add to that as the month goes on.

If anyone has any recommendations for what I should see, do, or eat in Vancouver, please toss them my way!

Weight Watchers

6 lbs lost so far!  Though, god knows, that I probably didn't lose any this week or maybe even gained some but I'm okay with that.  I know myself and I know I had a rough week (and I know that beating myself up = stopping WW entirely, so), on top of the fact that boxes of chocolates are apparently mating like bunnies in the house, so that every time I turn around, there's a new one.  (Parents anniversary = three boxes.  Valentines Day = four because my dad got my mom two and then she got my dad and myself a box.)

But I plan on signing up for the gym on Tuesday on the way home and I know I'll be better about it next week.  Also, 6 lbs is a great start.  Also, I'm learning, which is what I really want.  With the exception of last night, I'm generally having one glass of wine (and not poured like I normally pour it -.-), I'm watching the portion sizes and I'm aware of what I'm eating, even if I'm eating something 'bad'.

I have been bad about the water or even drinking regularly this week and I need to get back on that band wagon.

;) I know, it's hysterical and I don't get to use it enough.

And thanks! I love me both the laptop (need to name it soon) and the WW stuff.

I can totally see where you're coming from with not associating bad and good to food but it's just not a place where I'm coming from. To me, labeling food good or bad isn't about assigning something morals or even emotion - I just feel that there are some foods out there that aren't healthy or good for a body.

That being said, again, I really do understand why you feel that way and I respect why. I just don't have the same association to the bad/good food label.
