I am never going to finish The Stand and, in fact, it might be one of the books they send with me to the nursing home.  (No, it's great, I'm loving it but at what point in his career did King start getting paid by the weight and heft of the books?)  It won't fit in the purse and I'm tempted to buy it a purse of its own.

Also, in TV news, I quite like Person of Interest.  I've seen the first two episodes and I'm quite intrigued by the whole show.  It helps that mom likes it, so it's now on DVR rotation - we've got three taped that we both need to watch.  Along with Once Upon a Time, which I've heard great things about, and we're checking out Grimm tomorrow night.  And Bones starts up next week!

So if The Stand doesn't make me collapse under its weight, I'll have a few things to watch.

I'm reading The Stand right now, too! I didn't realize how long the book is until I picked it up from the library, but I'm steadily making progress. In the meantime, I've been having dreams about pretty much everyone in the world being dead that seem to center around me trying to find a nice house to live in that's free of corpses (not very successful) and getting lost in Atlanta (I'm not quite sure about this part, but I guess that's real life creeping in as I grew up there and have been thinking about the house I lived in most of my life.)

It's almost 1500 pages! I'm a fast reader but with not a lot of reading time during the work week, it's been slow going. I'm liking it, though, it's very good - if a bit hard to keep track of people. -.- He should have killed more off.

And I've been having strange dreams, too, and I flinched the other day when my mom coughed. ;)

The Stand is SO my cold and flu book. I read it whenever I get with the plague for a few days and scare it out of me.

*snickers* It was a really good build up at the start - I want no one to touch or come anywhere near me while I read this. Cooties kill!

What amuses me is that the mini-series is about as long in TV time. But I did love the book when I read it.

The mini-series is why I picked it up - I caught part of an episode and realized I'd never read it. Apparently they're looking to make several feature length movies out of it now. It'll be interesting if they can pull it off.

That will be very interesting to see how they do. I'll be going to see them if they do anyhow. :D

There's actually two editions; the original one, which had a decent editing job, and then the 'author's edition' which put all the extraneous stuff back in. I read the original back in high school and quite enjoyed it. I've skimmed the author's cut and decided King should listen to his editor more. ;)

And I'm guessing you haven't read the Song of Ice and Fire series, then? Since those are a new meaning in the word "door stopper". ;)

Yeah, I didn't notice until I had started reading it that it said - in tiny print - that it was the author's edition. ;) I totally agree, an editor is a fine, fine thing.

You know, I really tried to get into it and I read the first ... 3? But then I just couldn't continue, I couldn't easily keep up with the numerous characters. And when the last one came out, the idea of re-reading it all again just made me run the other way. ;)
