Well then!

That was - exciting. I'm home safe and in the process of coaxing out freaked out cats (well, one, mine seems oblivious. Then again, she's young and kind of dumb.). I was pretty freaked out, tbh, not only because of the quake but because of the inability to reach anyone by phone while we were stuck outside. Also, on the way home, people were driving like morons and there were accidents everywhere so my nerves are kind of shot.

At one point, Heather managed to get a call through to me and she told me she'd talked to mom - they were able to get calls back and forth to each other. When we were let back in the building (about 3?), it was to get our stuff and get out by order of the building engineers; I used the time to try and reach a few folks by work's land line - couldn't get through to cells but I called and left some messages on phones that were also land lines.

On the drive home, I managed to get one call through to mom and one to Lauren but those were only two out of a bunch I tried to make. The lines are really bogged down right now.

Anyway, traffic wasn't too bad and I'm home safe, so I'm going to try and coax KC out of hiding with some cat food and just check for general damages in the house.

It's good to hear that there doesn't seem to have been any severe damage/human harm!

Thank goodness for that! I think a lot of immediate damage was from car accidents as people raced through traffic. :P We'll probably be finding some damage as time goes on but so far, nothing big.

It takes an earthquake to make one realize just how mobile a trailer is! I'm just glad I won't be in that said trailer when/if the hurricane comes to town! And if it does hit us, hopefully it's still there when we get back to work, whenever that may be!

Also, after today, I will never be moving to CA. How do they put up with earthquakes all the time?

I mostly thought it was funny and managed to have a casual conversation with a resident while it was happening? *bounces around* lolz
