Well, that fell through.  *sigh*  I was looking at my current place but I don't make enough money to be on my own (by, you know, less than $1,000 which is chump change, really, after taxes), they wouldn't allow me to have a co-signer and the fact that I was a current resident didn't change a damned thing.

Would have been nice if they'd told me that BEFORE we went on the tour, I could have saved myself an hour.

Back to the drawing board - my parents are going to be coming out here next Saturday and we're just going to try to find something that day.  Hit as many of these places as we can.  I'm just really irritated at my current residence right now.  I have five weeks, I have time, but damn, I wanted this all wrapped up by now.

apt complex

So I used to live in the apt complex called MeadowCreek at Mark Center, and while the apartments were nothing to write home about, they were clean, you could have a cat with a deposit, some amenities were included ( i think it was gas, trash, and water) and there was a satellite police office across the parking lot from my building. I'm unsure of your price range and granted I wasn't living alone, but I never felt in danger in that neighborhood, the grocery store/subway/thai place was up the hill, and I was about 1-2 blocks ( read 10 mins at most) from the metro bus stop and the dash bus that took me to Old Town. If I remember correctly there was also a shuttle that went to Van Dorn metro.

Your mileage may vary, but I figured I could throw a cmplex name your way in case it helps.

You may have already thought of this, but would they be willing to let you go month-to-month? It makes it much easier for them to get you out if you don't pay and gives you more time to find a place.

How much do you need to make in order to get the place? When I had applied to one place and didn't make enough I mentioned to them that mom and dad sent extra money. They asked how much and when it showed that it covered the difference they said they would accept it as long as mom wrote out that she sent me the extra (which we lied a little, mom wrote she sent me an additional $400) but they didn't know that. Ask them if they'd be willing to let you rent if mom and dad signed something that stated they sent you additional money a month on top of your current earnings. You might be able to slide in that way :) Don't worry, if I can find a place in 5 days after having 2 leases fall through, you'll be able to get something hun! You know mom and dad won't let anything happen :) *Hugs* Call me if you need to talk!
