The first one is the Holy Grail of the Kaylee costume, the one we all go to when it's that time that we need to make a jumpsuit. The second is to show you how other have actually done it and how it comes together.
...for a simple costume, that's complicated (well, for me since I've never done anything like this, hrm) but I could pull it off so well...! (Possibly.)
I swear, it's really not! Ditch the jacket. It's annoying. Instead, order the coveralls, and cut off the arms. Order the patches, iron/stitch them on. ABUSE COVERALLS LIKE MAD. (Coffee grounds, oil, dirt, throw them in puddles, jump on them, take a cheese grater to parts.)
Then find a bright, printed long-sleeve t-shirt (preferably in pinks!) and you're done.
SEE? EASY. The rest is just flip flops, which I'm sure you have, and two bun hair. You can go for the parasol if you really want, but it's not really needed either.
Also, if I were vaguely interested in this Halloween party/housewarming of your hosting, where exactly would I be going? Your/Ben/Lauren/Al/Hly/etc whole area just confuses the hell out of me, mostly because I'm in Canada where the nearest next province is always at least a day away.
...*grabby hands* :D Well, I'm in the DC area where the party would be hosted and we have pleeeenty of space to crash and I could also share you with Lauren, who's like 40-60 minutes north in Baltimore.
And by plenty of space, I mean there's room in my bed for someone to crash, we've got a couch, a recliner that pretty much doubles as a bed, room in my room for an air mattress and LOTS of floor space in the living room (Jesus we have the space). (In other words, ohgodcomeandvisitme.)
*giggles* Yeah, if there's a tussle over Lauren - uh, I'll totally get my butt kicked, won't I? ;) But there's room for the both of you if you want to come up before the party.
Mm, that sounds like a plan. (Aaaaand me dragging you to Baltimore at least once to enhance your cultural education of America. By which I mean 'spread the misery around'.)
And as long as nothing has changed in the last 3 years, AND Lauren lives where I think she does, there's a somewhat-not-great commuter train and mostly-great subway that can take a non-driver from Baltimore to DC. (Train's lack of great is scheduling, not quality of service. Subway OTOH is fairly awesome as far as US subways go.)
