I've been buying and devouring books at a great speed lately (I've taken to carrying two around in my TARDIS-bag), managing to startle the new manager by pulling out two books that were 500 pages long from the bag today.  I wish I had more book gift cards because I'm having to force myself to stop buying so many books (I'm also still running out of shelf space).

The last few things I've read are:

Cast in Shadow and Cast in Courtlight by Michelle Sagara; Nightlife by Rob Thurman; The Hobs Bargain by Patricia Briggs; The Iron Hunt by Marjorie M. Liu; The Resurrection Casket by Justin Richards (Doctor Who Novel) and Wicked Game by Jeri Smith-Ready (obviously more but these are the only ones that aren't put up on the shelves because I'm running out of room).  I want to get the third book of Cast in Secret (sooo good - oh hell, she's Cast in Fury coming out in October, heeeelp meeee) but I'll try and be good, wait until next payday.  Right now, I'm currently reading Orphans of Chaos by John Charles Wright - after that, I've got four new books I'll crack open before finally settling in (hah) to read the rest of the TBR books that I've had for a lot longer.

The problem is I find these fantastic authors and they keep writing sequals.  (Or worse, like with the authors of Clockwork Heart  and Whitechapel Gods, brand new authors and nothing else! *grabby hands*)

I have two metro rides and a lunch hour to read in and I pretty much do so as much as I can.

I'm actually rereading Cast in Shadow right now, but I haven't read Courtlight yet because I haven't ever seen it in a normal-sized paperback format. The larger paperbacks are fine and all, but I can't fit those in the back pocket of my jeans.

Yeah, I don't actually think the two sequels are in smaller print just yet - hell, I only found Courtlight in one bookstore even in the bigger print. Damn, I'll be pissed if I have to trek to Dupont again to get the third book. (I won't, I'll just, you know, tell the bookstore next door to order it.:)

It's the principle of getting pissed that's important, anyway. As long as you would get pissed that you'd have to make the trek, you can be lazy and order the book at the closer store. :)

I seem to remember looking it up on the B&N website at one point and seeing that Courtlight and Secret were both supposed to come out in normal-sized paperbacks in August, but that was a while ago and it seemed weird that they would do both on the same day, so who knows. If they do come out on the same day that will be a good day.

Exactly. And I'll hold onto the righteous anger for a little while longer. ;)

Really? Hmm...I probably won't last that long, especially since the fourth book in the Jaz Parks series comes out mid-August.

...I really should start going to the library more often but I like owning the books I read.

Righteous anger's no good unless you get to savor it, I always say.

Well, I haven't seen the latter two at even B&N for a while, so for me it's not a question of how long I'll last. Heh. What I might give into temptation about is trying to find some old books online . . . I've got sort of a hankering to reread Gygax's old Gord the Rogue books and see if I still like them, and I was reminded of some books at the con that I haven't read in years and years.

Yeah, I do too. And that has nothing whatsoever to do with my outstanding library fines, honest. >.>

There's this amazing place where you can get books and read them and return them without having to pay for it. Library?

Though they may not have the books you're interested in. :-p Just a thought though. http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/content/libraries/index.asp

Sadly, the library is farther away than the bookstore. ;) And I like to own my books - when I have more room/more shelves, I want as many books as I can fit to go in there.

My own place is totally going to have a library.
