A massive pick me up came with the call that my new lenses and frames were ready for pick up - I hadn't expected them until next week sometime.  So I trundled down to get them and, of course, shall throw myself upon you guys to see how they look since they're nothing like I normally get.

I've got 30 days to decide to keep them - thoughts?

Hrm. I dunno. They're cute, but the heavier frame is kind of ... I'm not sure how I feel about it. But - I have a bias about frames. I'm always in favor of wireframes reagardless of how non-wire frames look on people, so I'm probably not the best judge.

I think the thing I'm happiest about is the shape - I wasn't sure at first but I think the nonround shape looks better. The heavier frames are...growing on me? They're actually more comfortable than the last ones I had but that was probably just the type of glasses.

I can also *see* out of the corners of my eyes, which is strange.

I like the shape - it's just the frames - and that's a ME thing. I have an automatic "plastic is evvvviiilll" reaction.

First thought - EEE KATZ. Apparently Katz was like "U iz takin a picture, I demands to be in it."

Actual thought re: glasses, I think I like the old ones a little better, though the new ones aren't horrible.

That's Katz' favorite spot when I don't want her on my desk, right behind my head on my chair. I need a bigger computer chair, though, because she tends to be wobbly.

I generally like these but I think it's going to take some time to get used to seeing myself in them. I like the general shape better, that I know.

Your new ones actually look very similar to my new ones, and it was the same shift in shape for me, too. It's a bit startling, but you'll find they grow on you fast, I think.

It really is startling - I've had the same basic shape of glasses for...well, my early 20s? But I'm falling in love with the shape and even the darker look is growing on me.

Aw, thank you. Now to just get over the "oh god, new lenses, the world is tilting" feeling.

I like them too - the thicker frames make a statement and the shape really suits your face.

And! My eyes show through more, which means people can tell when I put on make up. The smaller frames hid my eyes a bit more.

And thanks :D, I'm starting to let go of the buyer's remorse. ;) I had two at the end, both in the same look but the wire one wasn't as striking or as different.

The first thing I thought was that you suddenly turned into Mice. Which is not a bad thing. Different look, but they suit you.

*laughs* No it's really not a bad thing - which makes the connection to Tonya even *that* much funnier.

And thank you - I'm getting used to the weight and feel (oddly, they're lighter feeling than the last pair) and I'm starting to think these are keepers. Now, I just need a haircut...

They look really good, and the black frames suit the shirt you're wearing as well. The frame shape definitely suits your face shape more then the rounded frames, the glasses look less recessed.

I know, I love that my glasses match my outfit. And they do open my face up a lot more, which I like.

::two thumbs up::

I think this is the year for ditching the metal/wires and going plastic around here.

I've been seeing a lot of these around lately - to be honest, I didn't like most of the plastic frames she showed me but these are just great.

Love the new ones; they are much more modern and flattering than your old ones (which were fine, of course, just relatively speaking - ) - they really open up your face. I will admit that personally I think wire frames are dated and uncomfortable (those pad things on my nose drive me CRAZY), but your new ones are gorgeous. The contrast also works really well in bringing out how even and smooth your skin is (which makes me so jealous), and picking up the highlights in your hair.

I didn't realize until today how much the nose pads are uncomfortable. I can barely tell that I have them on, it's nice not to have them digging into my flesh. XD

Aw, thank you - I noticed the highlights popping out when I put it up and was pretty pleased, and surprised. (And I have even and smooth skin? Really? :D)

Ridiculous. Your skin has a beautiful undertone and is clear and looks amazing. (The fact that I can type long words right now should amaze YOU, apparently tonight I am an alcoholic.) When I come to America clearly we are going to have to have Why Jen Is Gorgeous tutorials since, hello. Duh. Between your hair and your eyes and your skin... dear god, REALLY? I mean, really. Your skin. You didn't know. Wow.

*giggles* You're doing very well, actually. The wine hasn't gone into your fingers yet.

Freak. Most people who have your skin obsess over it. You apparently JUST HAVE IT. Which is further proof that God is unfair.

And I am typing very carefully right now. Very. Carefully.

Especially since I do, um, absolutely nothing to it? I use...soap? *hides*

You're much better at it than I am when I've had win.

And, ooh, remember those shampoo bottles you left here? I ADORE those - I need to see if I can get them around here.

Oh my god. SERIOUSLY. Unfair. HOW DID YOU NOT KNOW???

Ahaha. I wouldn't call it 'win' so much as 'no impulse control'.

They're Aveda - just google it and you'll find it, though I warn you that they are SUPER pricey in larger bottles. I do love Aveda (they make hair colour that basically smells like chocolate) but be prepared for $30 for a regular-sized bottle.

That has GOT to be some weird generational thing. I think plastic frames are dated and uncomfortable. But I got glasses in the era of big ugly plastic unflattering frames, so I have a built-in bias.

My dad says the same thing!!! Not comparing ages AT ALL (clearly you > my dad, in terms of awesomeness), but agree with generational thing, completely.

Okay. Lauren goes to bed sans passing out now.

It might be based on a point where plastic became possible to look nice and not be huge. Glasses have really only been fashion-possible in the last ... 10, 15 years, so before that you were really stuck with several variations of Ugly. So anyone before that point would be more likely to have a bias against anything that looks like the stuff they were stuck having before decent glasses became possible.

(That and I look TERRIBLE in thick frames, so I just automatically impose my personal fashion rules on everyone else on the planet.)

I had to fight that when the girl suggested plastic frames - I flashed back to *my* original plastic frames and went "Ew!". It was interesting seeing the difference between then and now.

Those look like mine :) They're cute, but I agree with the others that the old ones looked better. I think the shape is good for you, but the frames themselves are a bit too big. If you could find the same shape of frame but in a smaller frame, and maybe a lighter color too, a honey color of gold to compliment your hair and eyes, then it'd be perfect. I'll see you Friday night, I'll be leaving from work and coming up. I get off at 3:15, so I'll probably be at your place around 7ish depending on traffic.

It's surprising - on the day I got them, I might have agreed with the thought on color. Now, though, I'm liking the contrast between the dark of the glasses and my skin tone (which, apparently according to Lauren, is fantastic ;). I think they're keepers, actually, since this was really the only size they *had* (if they'd had a smaller size in this shape with this frame, I would have gone for it). It's taken some getting used to.

Okay, I'll be home around 6 - are you getting dinner on the way or should I make something?
