For the first time since, er, Thursday (I think...) traffic was good.  Still nearly had a sniffle in the car because it's been a horrendous self-confidence day (through no one's fault but my own.  I'm just very tired and not looking at myself in the best light the last few days).

Bah.  Need to clearn the apartment.  Also must take my car in for repairs because the brakes are squeaking. -.-  I need to do this before Saturday since I'm going down to [profile] aura_wolf for the weekend but I heard the parking lot attendant move my car and I swear it sounded like someone was smacking a giant mouse around with a giant squeaky hammer.

Am terrified that the repoairs will be like the last time the breaks got worked on, about $700.  (It's the one and only time I've had work done on my engine because mine is a good car.)  *sigh*  Can't be helped if it is, though.  Don't want to go tomorrow because tomorrow is free food day at work...may go after because it's unnerving.  The..car...and not the free food.

Buffalo burger for the win tomorrow.

(How sad would I be if I had a theraputic cry over the dishes?)

Ick. Good luck with the brakes, hope they aren't too expensive--I had to have my car in for repairs this past Thursday, because (it turned out) the serpentine belt had broken, and it's apparently rather hard to drive if the alternator isn't connected. Under $200, though, which was ncie.

I don't think I've ever had a buffalo burger but they certainly sound the win.

Thaaat's right, a belt was also on the way to breaking. So I replaced breaks and a belt. No wonder it was fairly pricey.

They're sweeter than regular burgers but not by a whole _lot_.

Do you have any other symptoms with the squeaks? Vibration, grinding, slow response when pressing the peddle? If it's just squeaking then it's likely just a build up of brake dust. This is a common problem with people who have certain types of brakes. (I don't know what kind of car you have here so I'm just guessing.) Do you notice if it gets quieter the more you drive?

It's squeakier when I start up but though it does get quieter after a bit, it's still regular. And for right now, it's just the squeaking. Thankfully, it responds normally.

That really sounds like break dust. Mine require a blast from a high power hose after every winter. I clean 'em when I swap my tires. Most brake pads have small metal studs that will make a grindy noise if you're pads are wearing down. By all means ask at the garage, but the long wear pads do tend to make your brakes squeak so I wouldn't worry too much.

If they want to charge you anything close to 700 this time... get a second opinion.

First of all, CHIBI-SEVERUS!

Sorry, that's out of my system now, I promise. It really is an adorable pic, though. Judging by your description of "smacking a giant mouse around with a giant squeaky hammer," I would guess that your brakes will need to be replaced, but that shouldn't be anywhere near $700 assuming your car is in relatively good repair. Otherwise they may need to replace the calibers, but even that shouldn't put you over $300 at the outside.

Sorry to hear about the self-confidence problems, by the way.

I totally appreciate how Snap feels right now.

I think I had to replace the...timing belt when I replaced the brakes last time so here's to hoping it won't be anywhere near that pricey this time.

And thanks. Rough couple of months that seem to go around to everyone.

Do you hear that? Shh, listen...

That is the sound of the squeaky buffalo. From 13 States away. Do you know what he's saying?

He's saying the buffalo burger better not be a squeaky buffalo burger. He doesn't mind if it's the big kind, they're smelly and like to make fun of him, but if it's a squeaky buffalo he'll cry.

Dishes are a special thing. If you're a bit angry when you start, you just get angrier. If you're a bit depressed, often, even if you don't normally cry much, tearies happen while you're doing the dishes. If you're happy, not much happens.

Dishes are a negative emotion amplifier. Trust me, don't ever start washing up a bit resentful. The rage, man, the rage.

*grins* You're right, dishes do amplify negative emotions. Started the dishes, started the cry...so I stopped the dishes. ;) They'll have to be done today, I think.
