Jan. 27th, 2011 09:53 amI could be grumpy that the Federal Government was only delayed by two hours this morning (hence, me at home at the moment with no shoes on) instead of closed like most of the rest of the DC area. However:
1. I'm taking my time getting in. If I'm not there at the crack of 11, I'm not there. I'm going to clean off my car in about 10 or 20 minutes, make my way to a Starbucks and then go to work. I worked through my lunch hour yesterday and pulled late hours both Monday and Friday nights.
2. I was not stuck in traffic last night for 4 - 6 hours. Leaving at 3 pm was a life saver as reports were coming from all over the DC metro area last night about sitting in one spot for an hour and not even moving an inch. It took my dad, who had a meeting up in the DC area, almost 6 hours to get home last night. A friend of Marissa's called and said she was edging into hour 6 as well (dad's commute should have been an hour and a half, two with bad traffic. The friend? About 40 - 60 minutes long).
That knowledge that it took me 40 minutes to get home last night is enough to keep me from whining too much this morning. Especially since Marissa and I watched the traffic on RT 1 S, which I take to get home, just sit and sit and sit last night. The traffic didn't clear up on that stretch of road in front of the apartment until about 10:30 last night.
