I'm not sure why but Ballston Metro stop always seems to be filled with people handing out fliers, especially around election day.  I know Grovsner is a little out of the way - though we've had some people stumping over there - but getting from and to the Ballston stop to work feels like a gauntlet.  I had seven, seven, people in one block ask me if I'm voting.

...did you not hear my response to the last six, Mr. Number Seven With Your Fancy Obama Hat Man?

There's a reason I go the longish way to the metro in the afternoons and that's to avoid the Greenpeace/random environmental group name here that's handing out fliers and wants me to give them money.  I understand philanthropy and fundraising (duh) but trying to grab me on the way to/leaving work is never a good time.

Oh magic headphone, you save me every time.  "I can't hear you, I'm listening to Abba!"  (Well.  I was.)

Car Update

Well, the guys got here and they popped off my tire and put on the spare in less than three minutes. I was in awe. With the prospect of not having to have my car towed, I decided to take it to the dealership. I tend to prefer them over regular garages, mainly because I can almost always get SOME kind of discount out of them.

Got it to Stafford, found out it was going to be later in the afternoon before they could have it done. Well, there went any places to actually, you know, work today. The nice gentlemen at the dealership decided that it would be a shame for a young woman like me to get squished into a thousand squishy things while crossing Rt. 610, so they drove me over to the shopping complex.

Got the call after I discovered the bookstore and nearly had a freaking heart attack. Both back tires needed to be replaced and with the oil change (really, the 45,000 mile whatever) it was going to be $230. After discussing it with the guy, it was decided that I can wait on the back tire that didn't deflate until next week, when I get paid.

This dropped it down to $149. Still ow but nearly $100 cheaper makes me happy.

So, yeah, am going to cancel trip to Gettysburg. *shrug* As much as I want to go, finances dictate that I can't. I'm disappointed but not too much. It's amazing what perspective can get you.

It could have been MUCH worse, something I couldn't afford. But because I had been saving up, the emergancy was more than taken care of. Live tends to throw curve balls, I'm just glad I'm getting in the habit of being able to actually hit them out of the park when I need to.

...right.

There's no way in hell I can change my tire (mainly because the metal piece that you put the jack under to jack it up...snapped. Yeah, it broke). So I'm going to calm down, call my insurance company and see if towing is covered.

If it is, I get it towed to Merchants.

If it's not...I curse a lot and try to see if I can afford it.

Edit (Of FIRE): I didn't have towing insurance...I do now (only added $6 to my 6 month total, why didn't I have this before...). Normally, it takes a full day for it to hit, but they're trying to see if they can push it so I can get the coverage today. *crosses fingers* I'll know by noon.

If not, I go into work via the roomie (thank God for roommates at times like these) and tomorrow, take a half day off and get it towed/fixed.

*flails*
