Update on dad

He's stiff and very sore but I think he'll be okay if he rests (*insert laughter here*). The actual procedure was yesterday and, it was nice, they got him in for the medicine afterwards much sooner. Originally, the tube was to be inserted at 11 am and then meds at 2 but they had him in by 12:30.
I know he was nervous but of course he didn't say it. :P Everything went off without a hitch but I think he was much more sore and had far less movement in his arm than he was expecting. I decided after watching him to take off all of Friday - I was worried he'd try to overdo it or that Sadie, who doesn't understand of course, would accidentally hurt him.
The original plan was for home care to come out today and show mom how to give him the medication but, honestly, after watching it yesterday with the nurses, my dad decided to just come in every day. It wasn't as easy as we originally thought (there was a solution before hand and then the meds and then flushing afterward) and the nurses there are really awesome.
I am really, really glad, though, that I took off all of today instead of just leaving early to check on him. I was able to drive him to his 9 am appointment and it was obvious that it was better that he had someone to drive him home afterward. It wasn't getting the medication that hurt but they had to change the bandages and clean him up (they do it the day after the procedure and then once a week) and ...
Wow, yeah, he was in a ton of pain during that. (I teared up at the sight, I won't lie. Honestly we're the two WORST people to go to the hospital together.) And he was super sore afterwards so I'm really glad he didn't have to try and drive himself around.
I took him to Tippy's Taco afterwards as he adores their breakfast burritos - I think he's earned every bad food on the planet at the moment. A quick trip to the grocery store to pick up a few things like yogurt (the doctor said he should eat a lot of it because it'll help?) and now we're back home.
He's napping (with the dog) and honestly, I'm not far behind. We're a very tired family these days.
