Character moments, spoilers for season one - these are all over the place.
Snippets / moments for Jacqui, Merle, Jim, T-Dog, Glenn, Morales, Daryl, Shane, in no apparent order and various moments.
Jacqui
Jenner's hands are soft but firm as she laces her fingers through his. She's known him for less than twenty-four hours but she clings to him like she's known him her whole life.
Dale's gone now, convinced - guilted - Andrea into coming with him. It's just the two of them now, hands grasped tightly, as they sit in the emptied CDC.
Jacqui smiles, once, as the timer runs out and mouths Thank you as the air around them erupts into flame.
Merle
The new pain brings with it a type of clarity. Gone is the madness that plagued him when he was trapped on the roof; there's still a type of madness in him but this is a madness he can use. Merle's smile stretches tightly across his face as the smell of burning flesh fills the tiny kitchen.
This is the kind that fills him with a purpose and a goal. And a Dixon with a goal is a Dixon that is unstoppable.
Jim
For a moment, a brief moment, the pain and the fever fades and only the sun and wind remain. "Oh," he whispers, eyes closing and head dropping, "there you are. I'm coming, baby, I'm coming ..."
T-Dog
He left her and he lived another day.
It's a decision that will haunt him forever and yet, he can't / won't regret it.
Life. It's all he has left now.
Glenn
After a while, the annoyance of the car alarm simply fades into the background. Glenn's aware of it but he simply gets used to it because for the first time since he can remember, he's legitimately happy.
Nothing can touch him while he's doing 80 on the empty highway in the stolen red car. She's gorgeous and he knows that she's going to get stripped for useable parts within days of getting back to the camp. But before that happens, he's going to enjoy this unexpected gift.
It's not really the car - the gift is the peace of mind and the time to relax. Nothing will take this moment from him. Not the Walkers, not the others. This is for him.
Morales and family
The others will hope with everything they have that Morales, his wife and kids make it to their family.
They don't.
Daryl
Leave the motorcycle behind his skinny white ass. And if Dale looked at it funny one more time, like it was a pile of useful parts instead of a machine, that old man was going to get an arrow in his ass.
Daryl glared at the group as he tightened the restraints over the bike. "Don't worry, Pa, no one's gonna touch your girl." The crossbow and the motorcycle - his daddy's last gifts to him before the farm was overrun by Walkers. Merle was missing and, by god, he wasn't going to let them take anything else from him.
Shane
Shane had been a cop for years. He'd fired his service weapon before in the line of duty; he'd even wounded a perp once in the leg and he'd had to go on paid leave while they did the routine investigation. The weapon was a familiar item, a comforting presence at his side.
He has fired his weapon. He has shot at people, wounded people.
But as he stood on the steps outside of the hospital, he realized that this will be the first day that he will fire his weapon with the intent to kill.
And something inside Shane Walsh died.
