Good Weekend
Apr. 23rd, 2012 01:08 pmFriday night, I ran screaming from the office to bunker down at a Starbucks near Lauren's place until she and Marissa got there for dinner (granted, I still worked from the Starbucks but, hell, it's easier to work outside the office than in it). We went to Cava, one of my top five favorite places to go in DC, which got the girls night off to one hell of a start. I mean, I had cucumber gin drinks, cheese that someone set on fire and good company and that was just the start to the night?
Really, the only thing that was a little weird was my Olympic attempt at the high jump from Lauren's bed. (We kind of pieced it together over breakfast. We think I woke up, realized I had to go to the bathroom, turned to roll out of the bed, saw that there was someone next to me, tried to swing my legs over her as I leaned forward to the end of the bed to rest my weight on the night stand ...
Important note, kids, Lauren doesn't have a nightstand at the end of her bed.) The fall was pretty epic and you should see my knee - there's a huge circle of skin gone and it's turning all sorts of fun colors now. I suck. -.-
Lauren and I had brunch before I took my rather sore, still kind of hungover self back home. The intent had been for me to work for the rest of the day at the library but with the coming rain that night and Sunday, I gave the parents a hand with gardening. There's nothing like hard work in the sun to cure a hangover, right?
Also, "gardening" (I was yanking and chopping at things; to me, gardening is bringing life, not smacking it with a shovel) while surrounded by outdoor cats who are so excited that you're sitting in one spot is kind of hard. Pumpkin (one of the outdoor cats) ended up with just as much dirt on him as I did thanks to his antics.
Mom and I went into town on Sunday to hit up Starbucks for their better (not by much) internet connection and I got a few hours of work in; next Saturday, we'll do the library where the internet is awesome.
I worked more than I wanted to but not as much as I needed to but overall, it was a pretty awesome weekend.
