(no subject)

When the snows come this year and I'm trapped, I'll look back on this weekend and go "At least I was far enough west to miss the worst of the hurricane".  That's what we're thinking, anyway, as Warrenton isn't under any kind of warning.  We're expecting lots of wind and rain, and power outages because that always happens, but I think the worst of it will miss us.

We did some prep, though: moved the plants inside, moved all the porch furniture against the walls, put out extra food and water for the million outdoor cats.  We've got kerosene lamps, flashlights, a ton of food and water (and beer and wine for me!), so we'll be good, I think.  The horses are still out, we're surprised our neighbors haven't collected them yet but they'll probably be up soon enough.

Heather and my dad, though, are weathering it out in Hampton Roads, where it's really supposed to get hit.  So, kind of nervous for them.

The rest of the day is going to be spent pretty normally.  House cleaning, I need to finish going through boxes, setting up a few things and just lounging around.  If the power goes out, there's going to be lots and lots of reading by lamp light and napping, because what else can you do?  It's enforced sleep time, really.

So, for those more in the path, stay safe, stay dry and lets hope the lights don't stay out for too long.
