Brunch cures what ails you - especially if what ails you is a hangover.  I need to remember that if I'm going to a party at 8 pm that eating at 3 won't cut it - a peanut butter sandwich at 3 isn't going to soak up anything later that night.

The only problem with this place was that we drove into DC and it took, oh, 30 minutes to find a parking garage.  I don't recommend driving through DC on a Sunday morning when the last time you had a solid anything to eat was twenty some hours prior.  But!  I'm very happy to say that the brunch itself made it 1000% worth it - the place was very crowded and at first, a bit too noisy, but we got used to it pretty quickly.

I had the S.O.S. - Chipped Beef, House-Made Red Eye Gravy, Toad in a Hole, Side Salad.  Best toad in a hole I've ever had - made with brioche bread, light and fluffy and the egg was perfect.  Also, they have hash browns made with parsley, chives and thyme.  Ngggh.  And for 'dessert', we got an order of the made to order donuts.

Still so fresh that when you broke them open, steam came out. :D  The three they make are Toffee-Bacon, Lemon-Poppy Glazed and Bittersweet Chocolate; I have to say, the lemon-poppy glazed one was the best out of the entire bunch (the toffee-bacon was ... intriguing).

Yeah, I think the Birch & Barley is a place I'll have to go back to.

Just next time, I think I'll metro it. ;)

(Also, Marissa's an awesome roommate.  I was going to have to sit this one due to money but she was a sweetie and covered me - I've certainly got her next time.  <3)
