Tax time

I love that the last few years I've owed the state of Virginia $40*.  It's like they're coming to me and going "Can I borrow some money for dinner?"

(I am not complaining about this as it could be a much larger amount.  I do, however, find it kind of amusing.)

When I filed in VA they lost my return, sent a collections agency after me, and eventually ended up refunding me $40. So I've got your dinner money.

The funniest part about that whole thing? I paid the collections agency nearly $2,000 when they first called me because I didn't want to risk it going on my credit score. Then when I proved I didn't owe the money they refunded it and sent me interest on it for the period they had it. Then the next year they sent me a 1099 so I could report the interest they'd paid me.

... dude, really???
