Cooking?

The roommate and I went to St. Michaels on Sunday and one of the things we did there (besides eat.  Also, soft shelled crabs on bread?  Look like giant bugs are trying to escape your sandwich) was a wine tasting.  We both ended up buying two bottles of wine and one of them ones she got was a red that has chocolate in it.

It's sweet and almost takes sort of raspberry-ish but she got it because it was good and because the waitress said it's easy to cook with.

So!

My thought was I'd do something like:

Take a cup of the wine
Take a cup of raspberries
Some sugar?

And then make a sauce out of it so we could, you know, pour over ice cream.

Would that ... work?

Only thing is we don't have a blender that, well, blends. I mean, we've got one but it sort of just goes 'whiiiiiiiiiiiiir' and doesn't follow through on the whirring.

Then I'd say soak the berries in the sugar and liquor and then force through a sieve - that'll soften up some of the berry membranes and make it easier. Believe me - you get a mouthfull of seeds w/o the straining step.

Go buy one of those hand-held ones you stick in bowls. Easier to clean and versatile!

That we have! And it does more than whirr at me sadly. (Or well, we have electronic beaters? Is that the same thing?)

I may be making a whirring noise right now. (I'm not entirely sure why, it just sort of needed to be done.)
